Technology

At St. Joan of Arc School, we recognize the use of technology in the 21st century is an integral part in preparing students for college and career success.  Our Innovation Lab, and Advanced Innovation Lab courses cover a variety of lessons including Research and Information Fluency, Digital Citizenship, Creativity and Innovation, Communication and Collaboration. All of these units are taught and influenced by the lense of Catholic identity and the dignity of all humankind.  The technology program at St. Joan of Arc School ensures that our graduates are technically proficient and well-prepared for high school and beyond.

Technology in the Classroom

1:1 Device Program

Students at St. Joan of Arc School issued a school-owned device in which they use in class as a research tool, for notetaking, to make flashcards, participate in class discussions, manage their classes and assignments, make presentations, and so much more.  Grades 2-8 are issued a Chromebook while students in PK-1 each have an iPad.

3D Printing

In addition to the core technology integrated curriculum, 3D printing has been added as an activity to enhance instruction in grades 3 through 8.  This technology has cross-curricular integration.

Innovation Lab

All students in grades Pre-K through 8 participate in a weekly technology class in our Innovation Lab.  In these classes, the content is tied to the curriculum at each grade level, while the skills are tied to the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) standards.  Students are taught coding in grades PK-8, 3D Print Design in grades 3-8, basic graphic design in grades 1-8, and are instructed to use Google Programs at all grade levels.  Students in grades 4-8 are taught basic animation and video creation.

Robotics

Students at St. Joan of Arc School are engaged in coding activities from PreKindergarten through 8th Grade. PreK to Grade 2 work with Cubetto, Grades 3 through 5 utilize Ozobots, while Middle School  students learn with Spheros. Robotics education is an integral part of the STEM initiative at SJA.

St. Joan of Arc School students will have access to this same technology and a curriculum that allows our students to become more ready every day for future discoveries and advances we have yet envisioned.
